Great News everyone,
we are a go for an educational partnership with Turnbull Private School. I was contacted by one of the teachers at the school last fall regarding his grade 7 class's ambition to build a garden. We have been working on a partnership arrangement throughout the spring and have finally recieved the great soil test results we were hoping for. So VegetablePatch will be organizing the construction of a large garden and maintaining it throughout the summer and fall. Student and school volunteers will be out to help build the garden and learn through this process this Wednesday. VegetablePatch volunteers are of course more then welcome as well.
This is the exact direction I have been wanting to take with VegetablePatch and am very excited that we will be able to reach some fresh young minds. The ultimate goal of VegetablePatch has always been to educate and inspire more people to grow their own food and to build healthy cooperative communities.
Turnbull's term ends mid June, so is important to get the new garden built and planted as soon as possible so the students benefit from this partnership now and see the results when they return in the fall.
If you would like to come help on Wednesday, anytime should work. We will start early in the morning and staying well into the evening working away at a multitude of tasks. Just send us an email to let us know when you think you can come help out.
The area in which the garden is being built is a fenced in area adjacent to the school on Kingston ave.
